Our SMART Lab currently is recruiting 1-2 PSYC 4990 or 4880 students to join our lab. Please email Dr. Duncan for more information and to schedule an interview. Please check back in the future for updates.
The SMART Lab consists of several (i.e., 3-4) highly motivated and hardworking undergraduate research assistants (PSYC 4990/4880).
Requirements to join our lab group include: * An interest in applying to graduate school in clinical psychology or some other health-related profession (e.g., medicine, nursing, child life, physical therapy); * A commitment to a minimum of 2 consecutive semesters in the lab.
Students interested in a lab position will be asked to complete a brief application document, which will be reviewed by Dr. Duncan and the graduate student lab members. As part of a holistic review of candidate credentials, we consider a variety of meaningful factors (e.g., fit with lab initiatives, strong work ethic, GPA) when selecting our undergraduate research assistants.
Undergraduate research assistants (URA’s) participate in our regularly scheduled, full lab group meetings (date & time decided each semester) where we discuss progress with current research studies, plan new projects, critique journal articles or lab manuscripts, provide feedback on practice presentations (e.g., for conferences), and conduct didactic activities on relevant lab topics (e.g., preparing a CV for graduate school, effectively recruiting research participants). URA’s also have an opportunity to assist with most every level of research, including conducting literature searches, collecting data with families in pediatric clinics/hospitals, coding data, entering data into SPSS, and preparing conference presentations and manuscripts. Students are assigned to projects and then meet with project groups, as scheduled.
Students may enroll in PSYC 4990 or PSYC 4880, to receive credit for their work within the lab.
